There’s a spot on the Oregon coast where you can sit very close to the edge of the sloping cliff and see the waves roll in to smash against this protruding rock. I could stare at that spot all day! The original painting was made over the course of a few months, adjusting the shadows and lighting to give it a deep, moody atmosphere.
