Art Letter 12: We Love You and We Miss You

It’s a quick one, this month. Because:

Here’s a story I made up for Sunny at bedtime:

Once there was a unicorn who was sad because he didn’t have any friends or a purpose in life. He decided to go for a walk. On his walk he encountered a dump truck with a flat tire. The driver was distraught, for the donuts needed to be delivered to a school. Oh no! What was everyone to do?! Then the unicorn realized that he could stack all the donuts on his horn and deliver them. Which he did. Yayyy Unicorn! Not only did he save the dump truck driver, he made friends with all the school children. And the unicorn was happy, because he had friends and a purpose. The End.

Happiness is so obvious in made-up bedtime stories.

I’m not sick anymore, but that little prickly pear took its sweet time, ebbing and flowing for a good four weeks before squashing out.

I’ve made some lockets with this bizarre pandemic in mind, for all the loved ones being kept apart to keep each other safe, especially grandparents. Hopefully they can bring someone a little love twinkle.

And that’s it, my lovelies! I close with the few paintings I’ve completed this past month. The Grand Canyon. Our front yard. And trucks. Always, always trucks (as she bashes her head against the desk and wonders what having girls is like…)

OIl enamel. At least 10 hours (cringe). Much repainting went into this landscape.

Gouache. 1 hour. Frantic nap time painting.

Gouache. 2-3 hours.

Adios from me and my little assistants!

xo,

Khara
